Rifle Sight-In: The Becker County Sportsmen’s Club will have its 2018 Rifle Sight-In from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be no charge for club members who present their current membership card; all others will be charged $5. Youth shooters between ages 12-18 will be admitted free of charge by presenting their Minnesota Firearms Safety Certificate, but must be accompanied by an adult. No one will be admitted to the firing line after 3:45 p.m. Memberships are available at Lakes Sports Shop in Detroit Lakes, as well as at the range, which is located at 29333 U.S. Highway 10, Detroit Lakes.

Swedish Meatball Dinner: Lund Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes will host a Swedish Meatball Dinner from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., featuring Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, lefse, vegetables, coleslaw, homemade pickles and pies, buns and beverages. Cost is $10 per plate for adults, $6 for children ages 6-12 and free for kids age 5 and under. The church is located nine miles north of Detroit Lakes on Richwood Road.

Trunk or Treat: Zion Lutheran Church, located at 1100 Lake Ave., Detroit Lakes, will host a Trunk or Treat festival from 4 to 6 p.m. in the church parking lot and fellowship hall. Kids are invited to come in costume and go trick-or-treating from car trunk to car trunk — each of which will be festively decorated for Halloween. There will also be games, crafts, and Zion’s signature ham and cheese sandwiches — served hot, of course!

Trunk or Treat: Essentia Health St. Mary’s EMS will host its annual Trunk or Treat on Halloween night from 5 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot across from the EMS building. Community members and businesses are invited to bring their vehicles, with decorated trunks, and provide candy for area children to trick or treat from trunk to trunk (instead of from door to door), offering a safe and fun experience for all. Autumn Senior Health Fair: A fall health fair for senior residents of the lakes area will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Frazee Event Center. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for kids aged 5-12 and $15 per family with school aged kids, with proceeds going to benefit Knights of Columbus community projects.

Creative Grief Workshop: Hospice of the Red River Valley is offering a free educational creative grief program for adults in Detroit Lakes from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at its offices in Detroit Lakes (1111 Highway 10). Create do-it-yourself (DIY) memorial pots with a local master gardener. Attendees will also learn ways to manage grief during the holidays and important self-care strategies with others who have experienced a similar loss through death.
